No one likes to drive downtown during rush hour… it’s just a pain. Sunday downtown for me is much more relaxing; that’s how sundays should be anyway. Driving down DVP with no traffic… even though it was a somewhat greyish morning with a bit of rain, I still felt good. (Of course… I was on my way to brunch.)
There I was… came to this Flo’s Diner in Yorkville. I’m sure some of you must be very familar with this place since it has been there for quite a long time. However, it was the first time I have ever been to this place. Located on the 2nd floor of a building, it could be missed if you don’t pay attention.
Climbed up the stairs… there was a patio outside. Didn’t sit outside since it was raining.
Took a look at the menu – I was a bit early. It was nice… to be alone for a moment to observe and feel the surroundings. At around 12pm, there was plenty of space in this restaurant. Not that it was not busy, but this restaurant is quite spacious.
Took the time, read the menu. There were different items – nothing out of the ordinary. I was thinking of the waffle/pancake, but I chose the big breakfast. Couldn’t remember what they call it… look at the picture – a picture is worth a thousand words. It was pretty good.
TW got a mixed fruit with waffle…had a bite – I liked it better than mine. TW also recommended the mixed berry pancake. I’ll try that next time I’m there.
Overall, it was pretty good. The environment was nice. Service – no complaint. Price – reasonable. Sunday brunch, not much traffic. Plus if you go there before 1pm, there’s free parking on the streets nearby. After brunch, you can walk around the area and do some shopping. But too bad if you’re into those designers’ brand – a lot of them are closed on Sunday.
